Pocket Hose...Maybe Not!
I was pretty excited about the new hoses advertised on TV. Then, when I saw them at Home Depot and saw that they used them in their nursery I was ready to try one. My daughter bought one for me for my birthday and I loved it…at first!
It was lightweight which I really liked since I’ve had trouble lately hauling the big industrial hose we have around the yard twice a day. It expanded and then contracted down perfectly, just like the ad. I also loved the fact that it didn’t kink and have to be straighten out constantly. But, after using it only six weeks, even with proper use and draining it each time, in the middle of watering my veggies, I heard a loud pop and that was the end of the hose! Of course I took it right back to Home Depot where I asked if they’d had any others go bad. The gal laughed and said, “Yeah, they’re returned pretty much non-stop. We don’t carry them anymore!”
So, my recommendation….forget the pocket hose until they come up with a better design. Check out the close up below. The material is so thin that even with proper use it was not destined to last long!
